LAND OF THE DISAPPEARING OCEAN

Surrounding the Minas Basin and into the Cobequid Bay is where you will find the most incredible tidal phenomenon in the world. Burncoat Head is the site of the highest recorded tide on earth, while the Shubenacadie River is the only place on the globe where you can experience "tidal bore" rafting. From Windsor to Truro and from Glenholme to Economy see the tide appear and disappear twice daily like nowhere else!

This area is part of Nova Scotia's "Glooscap Trail" - a scenic travelway that traces the Bay of Fundy shoreline from Windsor to Amherst and is named after Glooscap, an important character of native Mi'kmaq legend who was believed to have controlled the Fundy tides with his powers.
